Offering Both In-Person and Online Therapy in Kampala

In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world, access to quality mental health support is more important than ever. That’s why we’re proud to offer flexible therapy options in Kampala — both in-person and online — to meet your unique needs and lifestyle.

In-Person Therapy in Kampala

For those who prefer face-to-face interaction, our in-person therapy sessions provide a safe, confidential, and comfortable environment in Kampala. Meeting with a therapist face-to-face can foster deeper connections, allowing for more nuanced communication through body language and presence. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or life transitions, our skilled therapists are here to support you every step of the way.

Online Therapy for Convenience and Accessibility

We understand that busy schedules, mobility challenges, or distance can sometimes make in-person sessions difficult. That’s why we also offer online therapy sessions through secure video platforms. Online therapy offers the same professional care and confidentiality as in-person sessions but with added flexibility — you can connect from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere you feel safe. This option is ideal for those balancing work, family, or other commitments while prioritizing their mental health.

The back ground:

We recognize the significance of addressing mental health within the Ugandan and African context, drawing upon the diverse experiences of individuals within Uganda. Our primary focus lies in implementing impactful strategies within Uganda’s mental health sector to enhance the well-being of those dealing with mental health, neurological, and substance use challenges. Central to our work is a strong emphasis on research, positioning us as proficient advocates capable of delivering quality mental health education and developing impactful interventions.

Our aim is to engage with the Ugandan government, mental health proponents, practitioners, local entities, individuals with personal experiences, supporters, researchers, and global stakeholders to create and implement mental health programs that raise awareness in Uganda.

What is counselling?

Counselling is like having a heartfelt conversation with a caring expert who helps you navigate your struggles. Through gentle guidance, this trained therapist encourages you to face your difficulties by shedding light on the issues, weighing different possibilities, creating action plans, and fostering personal insight.

Kampala Psychotherapy: Experience and Expertise

With extensive experience in both clinical settings and private practice, I offer an integrated and holistic approach to treatment tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I have facilitated mental health and well-being workshops for professionals and community members across the UK and internationally. Additionally, I am passionate about Art Therapy and frequently incorporate its techniques when working with clients of all ages.

How can therapy benefit me?

Therapy is designed to help you navigate life’s challenges, manage your emotions, and build resilience against future difficulties. At Acorn Therapy, we tailor our approach by combining various techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for each individual. This might include integrating counselling with bodywork, art therapy, mindfulness, or other modalities. Just as healing from a broken bone varies from person to person, the process of finding the right treatment takes time and is unique to each client.

We recognize that seeking therapy can carry stigma in Uganda and many other parts of the world. To accommodate those who prefer privacy or live outside Kampala, we offer convenient and confidential online mental health support.

Respect and Confidentiality

We understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting, which is why confidentiality is at the heart of all our psychotherapy, counselling, and workshop services. Whether you’re working with Denis or another Acorn Therapy professional, your sessions are completely confidential, and your anonymity is always protected.

Recognizing that many of our clients are busy professionals, we offer flexible evening and weekend appointments to fit your schedule. If privacy is especially important to you, please don’t hesitate to discuss your preferences with your therapist—we will work with you to arrange sessions that meet your needs.

How can psychotherapy and counselling assist you?

Psychotherapy and counselling offer a wide range of benefits tailored to your unique circumstances. For some, therapy is a powerful tool to process and heal from past trauma. For others, it serves as a guiding support to discover deeper meaning and purpose in life. Therapy is not just about pinpointing the root cause of a problem—it’s about building resilience and developing emotional skills to navigate future challenges with greater strength and confidence. At our Kampala psychotherapy practice, we believe that mental health care should be as unique as you are. That’s why we take a personalized approach, tailoring each session to meet your individual needs. By integrating diverse therapeutic techniques, we aim to provide the most effective support on your journey toward wellbeing.
